Sartell New High School
Sartell, MN
Challenge:
The Sartell – St. Stephen community boasts one of the top academic school districts in the state and is a source of pride for its residents. To show support the community passed a $106,000,000 referendum that included a new high school to accommodate district growth and modernize education. Modern education is centered around open, flexible learning and common spaces that require the mechanical and electrical systems to be flexible as well.
Solution/What Worked
Design Tree employed high fidelity building models during the design process to coordinate mechanical and electrical system components with limited wall and ceiling space required to accomplish the educational and aesthetic goals. We carried this coordination to construction by working with the contractors performing advanced Building Information Modeling and clash detection to keep the schedule and minimize change orders.
Fun Fact:
To increase student capacity and respect taxpayer dollars the Sartell – St. Stephen School reconfigured grades to make best use of existing buildings while making a long-term investment into a new high school.
